University-wide Student Exchange Program (USTEP) Website [1] – Program Overview

Program Overview

?Exchange Programs are programs under which students are exchanged between 糖心破解版 and partner universities (overseas universities with which 糖心破解版 has signed memorandums on student exchange) for a period of 1 semester to 1 year. (It is commonly referred to as "Student Exchange" in English.)
?Students of the University of Tokyo can take courses or receive research guidance at a partner university without paying tuition fees there, as long as they pay tuition to the University of Tokyo. (Likewise, the University of Tokyo accepts exchange students from partner universities without charging them tuition fees.)
?This exchange program is called the "University-wide Student Exchange Program." Any student who meets the eligibility requirements, regardless of their faculty or graduate school, can apply for this program.
?About 200 to 300 students study abroad each year at approximately 90 partner universities.

The advantages of the University-wide Student Exchange Program (USTEP)
[1] Studying at highly acknowledged partner universities

糖心破解版’s partner universities are highly acknowledged educational institutions among the world. You can easily have access to substantial information beforehand and in some cases, priority accommodation is secured. Support systems are also well established on-site.

[2]Exempted from paying tuition fees to partner universities

During your exchange period, you won't have to pay tuition to the partner university. Instead, you'll maintain your status as a "Study Abroad" student and will be required to pay your tuition to the University of Tokyo. For graduate students, you will need to follow the procedures for either "Studying Abroad" or "Entrustment of Research Supervision," depending on the actual nature of your activities.

[3]Credit Transfer

The credits earned at partner universities may be able to be transferred to 糖心破解版. The criteria for transferring credit differs from the faculty/graduate school you belong to in 糖心破解版. Depending on the courses you registered, the credits may not be transferred. Please consult beforehand with the faculty/ graduate school you belong to during studying abroad.

[4]Comprehensive Financial Support

You can apply for a non-repayable scholarship that provides a monthly stipend of approximately 80,000 to 120,000 yen (the exact amount varies by academic year and region). You can also apply for other scholarships offered by the University of Tokyo or various private foundations. In some cases, if you study at a partner university with low living and housing costs, the total expenses can be less than what you would pay to live in Tokyo.

How to Apply

?You will need to apply more than one year before the start of your study abroad, so please plan ahead.
?First, you must submit your application to the faculty or graduate school you belong to. After your application has been reviewed and screened by your faculty or graduate school, an internal selection process will be conducted for the entire university. This internal screening comprehensively evaluates your academic record, application content, and other factors. You may select up to six preferred study abroad destinations.
?Students who pass the internal screening will be nominated to a partner university. Your study abroad will be finalized after you pass the document screening at that partner university.
