We hold orientation sessions in April and October for newly enrolled international students. This is a great opportunity for you to get to know the information of both on and off campus. Please feel free to participate. (The orientation will be given in Japanese, English, and/or Chinese.)

NEW!■Orientation for New International Students, Autumn 2025 (Updated: 2025/8/25)
ISSR will hold the Orientation for New International Students in person on Hongo Campus. There will be two types of sessions offered in Japanese, English, and Chinese: a seminar-style orientation focusing on lectures, and an interactive-style orientation focusing on Q&A sessions with participants. Please attend one seminar of your choice.

*Please bring your Student ID with you.

*Note: Recently, there have been many troubles that have occurred after renting an apartment without a formal contract; e.g., “Renting a room based on a verbal agreement with the landlord (owner),” “Not receiving an explanation of important matters upon making a contract,” or “Living directly in a room where your senior or friend lived.” When renting an apartment, please make sure to properly check the contract.

■Pre-enrollment and immigration procedures, post-enrollment administrative procedures and class/course registration
Please follow the instructions provided by your department/faculty/graduate school you are going to enroll. In some cases, your lab may contact you directly. If you are not sure where to ask, please refer to the contact list below and check with your faculty/graduate school office you are going to be affiliated with. Many faculties/graduate schools have a portal website and a bulletin board for their students for administrative matters. Please check with your faculty/graduate school to confirm the necessary information.

Please check with your department/faculty/lab. In most cases, you will receive it at the orientation provided by your affiliation. You may be given an email address for your school, or you may obtain your ECCS Cloud Email (xxxx@g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp). Most students obtain ECCS Cloud Email.




■Life orientation video (Immigration Services Agency)
Useful information on living in Japan and procedures at municipal offices, especially before and after entry into Japan, are introduced in multiple languages by ISA.

■Follow-up Orientation for New International Students & International Meet-up (Updated: 2025/5/15)
This event is for international students who were unable to attend the orientations (conducted by ISSR), international students who attended the orientation but have questions about on- and off-campus matters. International and local students who are currently enrolled in university are welcome to participate in the exchange session in the second half of the event.
If you need special accommodation to participate in this event due to a disability, please let ISSR know in advance.
