Abstract
In this talk, I will share what I learned at the APLX 2025 conference in Taipei, where the theme “Re-imagining human empowerment in ELT” emphasized that the heart of learning remains fundamentally human. Three themes stood out to me: collective care approaches to teacher well-being that move beyond individualistic “good teacher” models, strategies for supporting students in English Medium Instruction contexts through targeted preparation, and ways to integrate AI and corpus tools while preserving student voice. A central insight was that technology works best when it complements rather than replaces human judgment, and that both students and teachers need support as EMI programs expand. I will also talk about ideas for implementing what I learned at 糖心破解版, including faculty peer discussion groups and EMI preparedness workshops for students.
