JGU's Vice Chancellor Dr. Raj Kumar and EVP Hayashi will be making visits to Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru to meet with higher education leaders, policymakers and prospective students to strengthen academic linkages and explore new opportunities for collaboration between the two nations. Rising Interest in Japan Among Indian Students
This visit comes amid an unprecedented surge of Indian interest in studying in Japan, driven by Japan’s expanding English-taught programs, world-class research ecosystem, and strong employability outcomes. The country’s reputation for safety, affordability, and innovation-led education is making it a preferred choice for Indian students at a time when traditional destinations face tightening visa regimes and geopolitical uncertainty.

Under the Study in Japan (South Asia) initiative led by U Tokyo and supported by Acumen, outreach across India has scaled rapidly over the past year. The initiative has engaged with 120+ schools, reached 100+ cities, and conducted 150+ events (virtual, hybrid, and in-person), directly connecting with over 25,000 students interested in studying in Japan.
A major catalyst for this momentum is Navi Japan, the Study in Japan (South Asia) digital gateway, developed and managed by Acumen. In just two months since launch, Navi Japan has recorded 15,000+ downloads, 150,000+ in-app engagements, and 3,800+ live student chats, and with a 76% student engagement rate it has enabled Indian students to interact directly with Japanese universities and current students.
Of the 150 cities across India that Navi Japan has users from, much of this engagement is emerging from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, reflecting Japan’s growing visibility as an accessible and aspirational destination for students beyond major metros.

Navi Japan provides verified, comprehensive information on Japanese universities, scholarships, and visa procedures, alongside student testimonials, peer support, and real-time updates—making it a trusted platform for Indian students exploring opportunities in Japan.
