Professor Kaori Hayashi, Executive Vice President; and Associate Professor Yoshiyuki Kawazoe (Institute of Industrial Science) visited SRM University AP in Amaravati on 2 September 2025.

SRM University AP was established in 2017 and currently has four prominent schools with over 10,000 registered students, of which around 500 are doctorate students.
Following an introduction to SRM University AP, there was an explanation from Mr. Jotish Kumar of SRM Global Consulting about the Destination Japan program operated by the SRM Group. Following this Profs. Hayashi and Kawazoe met with two Japanese members of the faculty who were teaching about Japanese culture and the Japanese language at the university as well as two students who were taking the course. Though they have never been to Japan, they showed keen interest in Japan and expressed their desire of going to Japan in the future.
The SRM Group has so far placed 92 engineering students in Japan, including in remote areas like Aichi Prefecture and Shiga Prefecture.
SRM University AP has expressed their interest in future collaborations with the University of Tokyo.
